Poem: I Just Need to Be - It is Enough

"Just Being" - Central Park Zoo 2007 © Rita Bourland

I Just Need to Be

I don’t need permission
To be
Who I am,

I just need to be,

I don’t need to act
Like somebody else
To fit in some box,

I just need to be,

If I follow my heart,
Sensing the truth,
Then I will be well,

If I listen
To the sound
Deep in my soul,

Then I will be well,
And I will live well,

I just need to be,

And that is enough.

  1. Yes! You say this so well, and it inspires me. Perfect photo of "being" to accompany the poem.

  2. I do love the photo as well. I was looking back through older photos and discovered this one that I took on a visit to NY. The sea lion looks very Zen, don't you think? xoxo

  3. I didn't know this was YOUR photo, but perhaps it says so on the photo. He does look quite Zen -- I'll use him as my model. xoxo

  5. Thank you, Libby. I do think the photo adds a certain serenity. I never knew a sea lion could look so reflective.
