Poem: A Wise Man Once Said

A WISE MAN ONCE SAID

A wise man once said that his wisdom
came from being not doing;
his participation in life
did not include a surge for success,
rather a seeking of truth.

He observed, partook, listened,
gave generously of his time,
but his actions,
as a wise being,
were purposeful,
mindful,
essential to the well-being
of another human,
essential to the planet,
essential to himself.

Thus his wisdom grew,
and he became known as a wise man -
people came to him to learn the truth,
to become mindful,
to meditate,
to be like him,
but he knew they would never be wise
until they could forsake the endless doing
And embrace the essence of being.

  1. Such wise contemplations on the continuous search for balance and acceptance of being present in the acts of "doing."

  3. Thank you both for your comments. Sometimes wisdom comes at unexpected times and sometimes through hardships. A bit of both might be going on right now.
